This month’s charity is Kate’s Home Nursing and has been nominated by Jo Shaw, Visitor Services Manager at Cotswold Farm Park.
“Sadly we lost my father in April 2012 to cancer, and Kate’s enabled us to have him at home for the last two weeks, giving us valuable personal time with him. Their presence allowed us to be able to sleep at night knowing that he was being cared for both medically and with compassion, during his final days. Each and every nurse who came to us were kind, considerate and very professional, and we could not have asked for any more from them. My daughter has since been raising money for Kate’s, including walking the Cotswold Way (Bath to Chipping Camden) carrying a very heavy rucksack!! I am still blown away on how she did it!”
The Charity was set up to nurse patients in their own home through the last stage of illness, and to support their families. Kate’s Home Nursing patients are generally referred to them through the GP surgeries in Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Northleach, Burford and Winchcombe so this is a very local cause which has a special place in the hearts of many of our staff and visitors.
Stow on the Wold Rugby club have been raising funds through for the charity with their ‘Carry Me Home Kate‘ campaign, with the aim to get as many passes of their special ‘super sized’ rugby ball as possible- and we had great fun getting the animals involved!
Donations can be made at any time during your visit and any amount is gratefully received. Collection boxes are located in the shop, cafe, Touch Barn and camp site.
