We are Changing…but in a good way!

We've come a long way in the 47 years that we've been open. There have been lots of great changes along the way and our latest plans are set to be the best yet. If you've paid us a visit during the school holidays you will probably have noticed that we've out grown our current visitor centre. The shop is too cramped to browse with a buggy and the cafe is creaking at the seams during a busy lunch time. We’ve held our first Outdoor Cinema event!

Last Wednesday, we held two Outdoor Cinema events with the help of The Alfresco Film Company. Fortunately the weather was on our side and it was lovely day, with the movies being displayed against the backdrop of stunning rolling hills and beautiful countryside. Our first Members Party was a success!

Last Friday evening, we held our first Members party. This event was exclusively for our members, but they could also bring up to 5 friends along for free. It was a great atmosphere: the sun was shining, the BBQ sizzling and acoustic guitar vocalist Drew Hall was strumming some tunes. In addition to the Farm Park being open, there were some extra activities on offer. The Farm Safari took a special detour and went behind the scenes to the Farm and there were also talks about our Rare Breeds and the history of the Farm Park. We also had free tasters of produce, including cheese, meat and alcohol from some of our shop...

Colin and his clan are off the Watchlist!

You might have heard about the Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST), you might have not. They were founded in 1973 (with the help of our founder Joe Henson) and work to promote and save UK native breeds of farm animals. The RBST have had many triumphs over the years and 2018 is no exception! This year the Whiteface Dartmoor sheep have, for the first time in decades, made their way off the Rare Breeds Watchlist. This means that there are now more than 3,000 registered breeding females and the breed are no longer considered to be in immediate danger of extinction. The conservation of native farm animal breeds is at the heart of the Farm...
