Tupping on the Farm

It’s tupping time on the farm – and it means we, and our ewes, are making plans for new arrivals in the spring. A tup is a lovely old mediaeval word for an uncastrated male sheep, so it follows that tupping is when the ram is put to the ewes for mating. Normally the boys are kept away from the girls, for obvious reasons, until it’s time for tupping of course. Party time!

Last week, we held our second Members Party of the year. Just like last time, the event was exclusively for our members, and they could bring five friends along for free! The Farm Park and all play areas were open, but this event was a little different to our previous Members Party. The Farm Safari became a sing-a-long Farm Safari, with music and lights. We also had a disco in the adventure barn. We had planned to have a Pillow Disco, but due to the recent bad weather this was moved indoors in case of a sudden downpour! We are Changing…but in a good way!

We've come a long way in the 47 years that we've been open. There have been lots of great changes along the way and our latest plans are set to be the best yet. If you've paid us a visit during the school holidays you will probably have noticed that we've out grown our current visitor centre. The shop is too cramped to browse with a buggy and the cafe is creaking at the seams during a busy lunch time. The planned development and refurbishment is set to double the size of the shop and offer 3 times as much seating in the cafe.
